If you receive a request for a booking (whether Direct Booking or Enquiry) that you cannot accommodate, you can simply Decline it in the messaging thread and send the owner a quick message explaining why.
If, however, the booking has already been confirmed (which means the owner has already paid), you cannot cancel the booking directly. We ask that you send a request for a booking cancellation to our support team, who will review the case and cancel the booking while helping the owner to find another dog sitter. We want to make sure that dog owners feel secure after they have confirmed their booking with a sitter, and they’re not left looking for dog care the day before they leave on holiday or a busy week at work. For this, if you do find yourself needing to cancel a booking as a sitter, you can access the cancellation request form through the booking details page by clicking on 'Cancel'. You will then be prompted to fill out a form explaining the reason for the cancellation and providing any supporting documentation of extenuating circumstances.
Please give the owner at least 10 days before the booking start date, so we can help them find another sitter on time.
- We know that sometimes things pop up, but please keep in mind that short notice cancellations from a sitter without an adequate explanation will result in the permanent deactivation of the sitter’s listing from DogBuddy.
- Submitting the cancellation form does not automatically cancel a booking. Our support team reviews each case manually before actually cancelling the booking and refunding the owner.
- Even though you can submit a cancellation request to DogBuddy, we ask that you let the dog owner know of your intention to cancel the booking beforehand.
