Owners pay for a booking at the moment it is confirmed through our secure online payment system.
If you make a Direct Booking with a sitter (by clicking "Book Now"), you will be asked to enter your card details to confirm the booking. DogBuddy doesn't charge you until the sitter accepts the booking, but we do make a pre-authorisation for the full value of the booking, which might show up as a charge by your bank (but don't worry, it's not!). If the sitter declines the booking or does not respond within 24 hours, the pre-authorisation will be automatically removed and no charge will be applied.
If you send a sitter an Enquiry by sending a message through their listing, they can send you a pre-approved booking for the dates you requested. You then have to return to DogBuddy through the email you receive to confirm your payment for the booking. At that point you will immediately be charged.
Please note: offering cash payments to sitters is a violation of DogBuddy's Terms & Conditions, as all payments have to be made through DogBuddy to make sure that we can cover the booking through our veterinary and public liability insurance.
